The mythological animated movie ‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ by Ashwin Kumar is reported to have crossed $1 million in gross earnings in North America in just 10 days after release. This marks a significant milestone for the movie. Narsimha is continuing to gain popularity even in the overseas circuits, thus bringing the Indian movie to the attention of the Indian diaspora.
North America Box Office Numbers
The movie Narsimha started out strong on Friday raking in $585,000 followed by $250,000 to $300,000 on Saturday and about $250,000 on Sunday. This impressive weekend aided in surpassing the $1 million mark.
India and Worldwide Collections
As per the industry tracker Sacnilk, Mahavatar Narsimha movie earned ₹22.75 crore net on Day 17 bringing the domestic total to ₹168.65 crore.
On Day 16 the India net was ₹145.90 crore, and the worldwide total was ₹182.75 crore. This consisted of ₹173.75 crore India gross and ₹9 crore from abroad.
The movie is available in 2D and 3D formats in Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. It is worth noting the 3D version is preferred the most.
OTT Release Update
As per film trade analyst Rohit Jaiswal's social media posts, Mahavatar Narsimha's Hindi edition will reportedly be available on JioHotstar. This news is based on the previous release strategies of the company’s production house. Movies such as Salaar and Raajakumara have been released after the completion of their production and post-production work.
Meanwhile, the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada versions may find their way to different regional streaming platforms.
About the Film
Mahavatar Narsimha marks the directorial debut of Ashwin Kumar and is jointly produced by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions. The film is the first installment in the planned seven-part Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, inspired by the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu in Hindu mythology.
