South Korean stars Lee Jung Jae and Lim Ji Yeon are set to headline a new romantic comedy series, “Nice to Not Meet You,” premiering on Prime Video later this year. The K-drama is expected to launch across India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The series marks a highly anticipated return to the rom-com genre for both leads—Lee Jung Jae, known globally for his breakout role in Squid Game, and Lim Ji Yeon, acclaimed for her chilling portrayal in The Glory. Photos from the show’s script reading session, released on August 1, have sparked buzz among K-drama fans.
Originally titled Petty Love and translated more literally from Korean as Annoying Love, Nice to Not Meet You promises a fresh and humorous take on modern romance.
Plot Highlights:
Lee Jung Jae plays Im Hyun Joon, a celebrated veteran actor stuck in a rut of typecast roles like detectives and agents. Desperate to break out of his comfort zone and explore romantic stories, he encounters Wi Jung Shin (played by Lim Ji Yeon), a hard-hitting political journalist whose career takes a nosedive after a corruption scandal, leading her to the entertainment beat.
The drama also stars Kim Ji Hoon as Lee Jae Hyung, a former baseball star who now runs a sports magazine and becomes entangled with Wi Jung Shin. Meanwhile, Seo Ji Hye takes on the role of Yoon Hwa Young, the entertainment section lead and Lee Jae Hyung’s former lover.
Supporting Cast Includes:
Oh Yeon Seo, Choi Gwi Hwa, Jeon Seong Woo, Kim Jae Chul, Na Young Hee, Jun Soo Kyung, Kim Hyun Jin, Jin Ho Eun, Kim Bup Rae, and Jo Hee Bong, among others.
Slated for a release in the latter half of 2025, Nice to Not Meet You is already generating anticipation thanks to its star-studded cast and refreshing narrative. With the global success of both lead actors and a genre that's loved worldwide, the drama could be one of the year’s most talked-about K-dramas.
