Kohli Matches Sachin's 49 ODI Centuries, Rohit Sets Record with Whopping 314 Career Sixes!

In a historic moment, Virat Kohli, known for his exceptional batting prowess, has equaled the legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 centuries in One Day Internationals (ODIs). Kohli's remarkable century came during a match against South Africa at Kolkata's Eden Gardens. This achievement places him as the second Indian batsman, following in the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar, to reach this remarkable milestone. Rohit Sharma on the other hand has 314 Sixes in his name, far ahead of both Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar

Kohli's extraordinary feat is made even more significant by the fact that he accomplished it in only 277 games, in stark contrast to Tendulkar's 452 matches. This reflects Kohli's exceptional consistency and dominance in the ODI format of cricket.

Notably, Kohli had scored his 48th century against Bangladesh, becoming the fastest player in men's cricket history to reach 26,000 runs in international cricket. His century in Pune in the following match brought him within striking distance of Tendulkar's record. Currently, Rohit Sharma, another prolific Indian batsman, stands as the third-highest century-maker for the Indian team with 31 centuries to his name.

Kohli's feat was met with congratulatory messages from fellow cricketers and fans alike. Virender Sehwag, the former Indian opener, lauded Kohli's achievement, especially given that it occurred on his birthday at the historic Eden Gardens.

With India posting 326 runs on the board in the same match, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra expressed confidence that this score should be sufficient on the given playing surface. Kohli's century, combined with Shreyas Iyer's 77 runs, contributed significantly to India's competitive total against South Africa.
