Kim Soo Hyun–Kim Sae Ron Controversy Triggers over 10 police investigations

The controversy involving actor Kim Soo Hyun and the late actress Kim Sae Ron has intensified, leading to multiple police investigations and mounting public interest. The issue centers around allegations of a relationship between the two when Kim Sae Ron was still a minor—a claim that has since fueled legal disputes, social media speculation, and a wave of public scrutiny.

As of May 19, 2025, authorities have confirmed that ten separate cases related to this matter are currently under investigation. According to South Korean media outlet Edaily, seven cases are being handled by the Gangnam Police Station, while three are under the jurisdiction of the Seodaemun Police Station.

Kim Soo Hyun has filed seven complaints, which include defamation and stalking charges against the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute (Ga Se Yeon).

Three complaints have been filed by representatives of Kim Sae Ron, including her bereaved family.

A key allegation involves a violation of the Child Welfare Act, reportedly backed by audio recordings shared in collaboration with Ga Se Yeon. However, Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team has dismissed these recordings as being manipulated using AI technology and has filed a counter-suit.

Meanwhile, Bu Ji Seok, the lawyer representing Kim Sae Ron’s family, is now facing separate scrutiny. He has been reported to the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, accused of providing misleading legal counsel.

With each party presenting new evidence and accusations, the situation remains tense. Authorities have stated that they are carefully reviewing all materials as the case develops.
