With the threat of an imminent tensions over tariffs, India as well as the US have signed a deal to sign a multi-sectoral bilateral trade agreement between September and October this year, as they unveiled "Mission 500", which will aim to increase the value of trade between them up to $500 billion in 2030.

PM Modi has said that he didn't talk with the president Trump the charges of bribery thrown out against the US against the business billionaire Gautam Adani. When asked if he would take up the indictment of Adani the PM replied that "two prominent leaders of two countries never discuss such individual issues."

The announcement came at the time that PM Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump held a bilateral meeting in Washington DC. Minister of Foreign Affairs Vikram Misri, speaking during an event for journalists following the meeting, stated that "both countries have agreed to negotiate the first tranche of a mutually beneficial multi-sector bilateral trade agreement by fall (Sept-Oct) of 2025".

Fifth-generation aircraft F-35 was displayed during Aero India in Bengaluru. Modi and Trump have also made plans to sign an agreement for a 10-year period to establish a major defence cooperation into the new century. The US will boost defense sales and co-production with India. This will include co-production agreements with India for "Javelin" anti-tank guided missiles as well as Stryker Infantry Combat Vehicles in India to meet India's needs. India is also looking into buying six additional P-8I maritime patrol aircrafts to be used by the Navy. The two countries also unveiled the launch of a new program -- called the Autonomous Systems Industry Alliance -- to expand partnerships between industry and production across Indo-Pacific nations.

To promote application of critical and emerging technologies in areas such as defence, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum, biotechnology, energy and space, while encouraging the use of verified technology vendors and ensuring that sensitive technologies are protected.
