ICC announces record USD 13.88 million prize pool for the Women’s World Cup 2025, with winners to bag USD 4.48 million.

Setting a new standard for the development of women's cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed a historic prize money structure for the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup. From September 30 to November 2, the competition will take place throughout India and Sri Lanka.
Prize Pool Breaking Records
The USD 3.5 million awarded in the 2022 edition in New Zealand was nearly quadrupled by the ICC, which announced a USD 13.88 million total prize pot. Interestingly, the prize fund is larger than the USD 10 million awarded at the 2023 Men's ODI World Cup.
Winners:
- USD 4.48 million, up 239% from USD 1.32 million in 2022.
- USD 2.24 million, up 273% from USD 600,000, was the runner-up.
- USD 1.12 million each for the losing semi-finalists (up from USD 300,000)
- USD 700,000 for fifth and sixth place, respectively
Places seven and eight: USD 280,000 each
Each team must pay a USD 250,000 participation fee.
Winnings in the group stage: USD 34,314 per game
Locations and Schedule of the Tournament
Five locations—Guwahati, Indore, Navi Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo, Sri Lanka—will host the Women's World Cup in 2025. India will play Sri Lanka in Guwahati in the first match on September 30.
The ICC's Dedication to Equality
Jay Shah, the chairman of the ICC, praised the announcement as historic:
For women's cricket, this fourfold increase in prize money is historic. Our message is straightforward: if women decide to play cricket professionally, they need to be aware that they will be treated equally to men.
This boost comes on the heels of the ICC’s pay parity decision, introduced before the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
