Gaza Peace Summit 2025 LIVE: Hamas Releases All Living Hostages, Trump to Address Israeli Parliament

October 13, 2025: In a landmark development, all 20 remaining Israeli hostages residing in Hamas captivity have been released as part of a ceasefire agreement brokered with President Donald Trump of the United States ahead of the Ghana Peace Summit 2025 where Trump will address the Israeli Knesset and then proceed to Egypt for the co-hosting of this international summit.

Hostage Exchange Details

The first batch of hostages was handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at Gaza earlier in the very day. The rest of the hostages now have also been set free and are being reunited with their families in Israel and undergoing their initial medical evaluation.

In exchange, Israel will release almost two thousand Palestinian prisoners, among whom are 250 with life sentences and 1,700 detainees from Gaza, while medical teams in Gaza await to provide care for the freed prisoners.

Visit and Peace Efforts of Trump

On the day of his arrival in Israel, President Trump met with the hostages' families and Israeli metropolitan officials. He is due to pass the ceasefire as the “historic dawn of a new Middle East” and will declare the establishment of a “Board of Peace” to govern Gaza.

Under the usual international reactions, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov dismissed it as “too vague” when commenting on the question of Palestinian statehood, whereas Jonathan Powell, the UK National Security Adviser, earned critical acclaim for helping secure the ceasefire.

Global Summit, Egypt

Upon returning from the Knesset, Trump will join leaders from over twenty countries, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in Sharm El-Sheikh for the international peace summit co-hosted by Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

In recognition of his efforts in easing the hostage release and ceasefire, Israeli officials are considering nominating Trump for a 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
