Elon Musk Steps Down from Role in Trump Administration

Space and technology billionaire Elon Musk concluded his leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and expressed gratitude to US President for allowing him to work on reducing government waste.
Musk predicted that the DOGE mission would grow stronger and become a fundamental part of government operations over time.
Musk left the DOGE department after delivering his first public criticism of Trump's "big, beautiful" spending bill which he claimed both increased the budget deficit and harmed the work of his team at DOGE. Legislation can display significant size or elegant design. The possibility of a bill being both large and beautiful remains uncertain to me. My personal opinion," Musk said.
Musk emerged as the principal benefactor of Donald Trump's 2024 election campaign and actively appeared by his side during his campaign before staying with Trump throughout his term. Trump showered praise on Musk during his victory speech while smiling broadly and stating "a star is born".
The startup of the DOGE team at high speed prompted Musk to search for brilliant small-government revolutionaries ready to commit to more than 80-hour work weeks for modest cost-saving work. Government payrolls decreased by tens of thousands while several departments shut down or downsized and the Tesla CEO continued to clash with top Trump administration officials.
Musk began to step back following interviews in which he labeled DOGE as the "whipping boy" for the administration's growing dissatisfaction. Musk revealed that he did not accomplish all his objectives during his time with DOGE.
Musk must face a legal battle for his improper use of power while leading DOGE according to a US District judge ruling alongside multiple cases aiming to prevent him and DOGE from accessing agency systems with substantial American financial and personal data.
The CEO directed his attention toward his companies which faced challenges as Tesla dealerships experienced arson attacks and declining stock prices while SpaceX encountered mission failures. The Starship exploded in the Indian Ocean during its ninth test flight on Wednesday.
