OpenAI’s ChatGPT is currently experiencing a major outage, with users across the globe reporting disruptions in service on Monday morning. According to OpenAI's official status page, the issue is affecting access to the popular AI chatbot, including for paid subscribers.
Reports on Downdetector, a platform that tracks online service outages, showed a dramatic increase in complaints starting around 7:00 AM EDT (4:30 PM IST), signaling a large-scale disruption. The majority of the reports highlight elevated error rates specifically on ChatGPT.
OpenAI acknowledged the issue, stating: “We are currently investigating elevated errors on ChatGPT for all paid users.” The update noted the issue had been active for over 20 minutes at the time of reporting.
While the company has not yet disclosed the exact cause of the glitch, it confirmed that engineers are actively working to resolve the bugs. The outage appears to be one of the more significant disruptions the platform has faced in recent months.
