Google is gearing up to release the stable version of Android 16 in June 2025, marking an earlier rollout compared to its usual October schedule. Traditionally aligned with new Pixel hardware launches, this accelerated timeline means the beta phase is nearing completion, and the official Android 16 update will be available within weeks.

Pixel Devices First to Receive Android 16

As expected, Google’s own Pixel lineup will be the first to get the Android 16 update. Eligible devices include:

  • Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a
  • Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a
  • Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a
  • Pixel Fold
  • Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a

Owners of these models can anticipate the update rollout shortly after the stable release.

Samsung Phones to Follow Closely

Samsung’s premium smartphones are also slated to receive Android 16. The Galaxy S25 series—which includes the S25, S25 Plus, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge—are expected to launch with Android 16 pre-installed. The upcoming foldables, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, will get early access to the update.

Looking ahead, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, rumored for release in July, will reportedly come with One UI 8 based on Android 16 out of the box. The Galaxy S24 lineup is anticipated to receive the Android 16 update by Q4 2025, depending on Samsung’s release schedule.

Vivo, Oppo, and Other Brands

Other major brands such as Vivo and Oppo are expected to roll out Android 16 updates later this year, likely towards the end of 2025.

What’s New in Android 16?

Android 16 introduces Material 3 Expressive, a refreshed design language that enhances the visual experience with dynamic UI elements, smoother animations, background blur effects, and updated system icons. Several Google apps will adopt this new aesthetic, providing a consistent and modern user interface across the platform.
