Australian leg-spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington gave the Oval Invincibles their first victory in The Hundred Women 2025 on Tuesday with a no-look run out that was reminiscent of MS Dhoni, giving Birmingham a glimpse of cricketing genius.

Meg Lanning's blistering 36 off 19 balls and Alice Capsey's explosive 29-ball 52 helped the Invincibles reach 174/5 in 100 balls in their match against the Birmingham Phoenix at Edgbaston. Hannah Baker and Em Arlott each took two wickets for Phoenix.

Phoenix managed 152/6 after chasing 175, with Ailsa Lister still undefeated at 33 off 18 balls. In her 20-ball spell, Wellington took 2/27, demonstrating her exceptional ball-handling skills. Her fielding, however, was the highlight.

In the 12th set, Emma Lamb looked set on 25 when Amy Jones pushed a delivery from Wellington to wide long-on and called for two. Phoebe Franklin’s throw from the deep was wide, but Wellington collected it and—without even looking at the stumps—fired an underarm throw that struck the target, catching Lamb short of her crease.

The stunning dismissal drew comparisons to MS Dhoni’s famous no-look run outs, sealing a crucial breakthrough and the Invincibles’ 22-run win.
