Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has announced that it has been placed in third position in a recent review conducted by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
The port secured third rank among the major ports for the period April to July 2023, VPA Chairman M Angamuthu said. The review meeting was held by the Secretary of the Ministry on Tuesday.
The Ministry periodically monitors the performance of all the major ports on key performance indicators like cargo volume, pre-berthing detention (PBD) time, turnaround time (TRT), output per ship berth day (OSBD) and idle time at berth. VPA fared well on all these parameters. The port by handling 33.14 million tonnes recorded 3 per cent improvement in cargo volume, 65 per cent improvement in PBD, 16 per cent improvement in TRT, 14 per cent improvement in OSBD.
