Vizag emerging as next tech hub, say speakers at CII meet

Visakhapatnam Software Technology Parks of India Director General Arvind Kumar on on Friday said Visakhapatnam has the opportunities and potential to imbibe the production hubs and technology test support centres in relevant fields

He was speaking at a programme conducted by Confederation of Indian Industry in partnership with STPI-Visakhapatnam on IT with the theme "Vizag the next tech hub of India."

He mentioned that India is a country where innovations are transformed at global level in terms of identity layer-Aadhar and payment layer UPI transaction system. He felt that in India five billion transactions are being done every month without any interruptions so India marked its label as innovation is ready to take place in every sector. India is moved to producing the technologies rather than only using the technologies.

Arvind Kumar said that the mindset change still needs to be done in both academic and administration to promote and redefine the technology change and adaptation. Growth in innovation should be holistically to bring all sectors to grow significantly.

Visakhapatnam has the opportunities and potential to imbibe the production hubs and technology test support centers in relevant fields like software, data centres, automobile etc. Centers for Entrepreneurship should push more to bring innovation and technology advancement at one place, said Arvind Kumar.

CVD Ramprasad, Director, STPI during his address said that STPI setup orientation towards the policy intervention could bring innovation and implementation simultaneously which helps to support industry in an inclusive manner. STPI has 21 centres of entrepreneurship across the country, and they have collaborated with Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd, Visakhapatnam for promotion of innovation and start-up activities and brings industry 4.0 readiness in Visakhapatnam.

D. Ramakrishna, past chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh and CEO & Founder, Efftronics Systems Pvt Ltd during his speech stated that the electronic sector should dwell with the IT sector to bring more approachable solutions for the customers.

He mentioned that a sustainable approach is must to drive in the longer run. Electronic development is seen as more public oriented but now it's time to move to individual or privatize the sector which can lead to individual development. Capable manpower, nurturing and changing the syllabus curriculum of academics can meet the industry demand and helps to bring the industry exposure.

G. Muralikrishna, past chairman, CII Visakhapatnam and CMD of Fluentgrid Ltd said that Visakhapatnam is having established industry base along with infrastructure and technology support like maritime university, CEMS, steel plant and export hub.

P.P. Lalkrishna, vice chairman, CII Visakhapatnam and JNPC CEO, said that IT sector of India is taking the Indian economy to unprecedented heights, and by all projections, the contribution of the IT sector to the Indian economy is going to increase manifold in the future.

India is the leading sourcing destination across the world, accounting for approximately 55% market share of the US$ 200-250 billion global services sourcing business in 2019-20, he stated.
