Establishments and employers need not control or monitor their employees' affairs post-working hours. But today, where so much emphasis is garnered on the well-being policies and initiatives for the employee, be it the company & its work culture, office environment or mental health. The work establishments leave no stone unturned to enhance the employee's physical and mental well-being to ensure maximum efficiency of its human force.

The side-gig contraventions of the employee may adversely affect their calibre and hamper productivity.

I strongly feel that employers hold the right to red tape around employee contracts. He may not entertain and allow employees to work for other firms as it's a straight conflict of interest that may lead to prejudice and loss for the establishment.

Concurrently, the employer must not deliberately suppress the enthusiasm of the employee who wants to develop, demonstrate and monetize their skill post their working hours. It is also the moral responsibility of the employee to stay loyal to their employers and establishments.
