Hyderabad: Tata Advanced Systems Limited (“TASL”), a key player in India's aerospace and defence sector, and Satellogic Inc. (NASDAQ: SATL), a leader in Earth Observation (“EO”) data collection, have announced the successful deployment of TASL’s TSAT-1A satellite into space. This satellite was aboard the Bandwagon-1 mission, launched by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA, at 23:16 UTC on April 7, 2024.

TSAT-1A was assembled at TASL’s Vemagal facility in Karnataka, India, following the collaboration signed between TASL and Satellogic in November 2023. This partnership leveraged Satellogic’s expertise to develop and integrate an advanced Earth Observation satellite in India and TASL’s capability for complex system integration.

Sukaran Singh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of TASL stated, “This milestone demonstrates TASL’s commitment to the space sector. Our partnership with Satellogic has resulted in the assembly and testing of a best-in-class, sub-metre optical satellite in India, which was successfully launched by SpaceX. We appreciate the support from various Indian Government authorities for the required permissions.”

TSAT-1A is designed to provide high-resolution optical satellite images with increased collection capacity, dynamic range, and low-latency delivery through its multispectral and hyperspectral capabilities.

Emiliano Kargieman, CEO at Satellogic, congratulated both teams on their collaboration, saying, “This highlights the flexibility of Satellogic’s Space Systems program, offering governments and enterprises the ability to customize a proven satellite model for their specific needs and reach orbit within a favorable timeframe.”
