Several leaders from the trade and commerce in Visakhapatnam have sought the intervention of Industries Minister T.G. Bharath to extend the benefits being given to the industry to the star hotels in Andhra Pradesh.

A delegation led by Pydah Krishna Prasad, past president AP Chambers, Kankatala Mallik, president of FAPCCI, K. Vijay Mohan Garu, president ,Tours & Travel Association of Andhra and MV Pavan Kartheek, president-Hotels and Restaurant Association of AP represented to Bharath here to extend industry benefits to existing star category hotels in the State.

They cited that due to high operational costs, particularly power charges, property tax, and water charges they are unable to achieve financial sustainability.

The delegation wanted power charges at industry rates for all star category hotels and reduction in property tax and water supply charges at industry rates. The delegation explained to him that if the benefits are extended, itt will lead to increase in investments in the tourism sector, decrease financial burdens on tourism businesses and stimulate growth in the sector.
