Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), the premier medical equipment manufacturing plant developed near Visakhapatnam Steel Plant by the State Government and the stakeholders in the domain, has operationalised a new tower offering one lakh square feet of cutting-edge infrastructure to fuel India’s

MedTech innovation ecosystem.

The landmark addition is a flagship facility uniquely designed to integrate state-of-the-art scientific laboratories with collaborative co-working spaces, creative interiors, and activity zones, creating an environment where medical technology startups can seamlessly innovate, test, and scale their solutions.

Equipped with rapid prototyping and testing labs, regulatory support systems, and modern R&D spaces, the tower is set to become a game-changing hub for research-driven entrepreneurship in healthcare.

Anchored by AIC-AMTZ Medivalley Incubation – the premier MedTech incubation hub within AMTZ – the tower will provide a powerful launchpad for innovators. Medivalley, which currently supports 150 startups, is set to double its incubation capacity to 300 by FY 2026 with this expansion.

The incubation council complements physical infrastructure with strong funding pathways through DBT-BIRAC, NITI Aayog, DPIIT, ICMR, and the Department of Pharmaceuticals, while also unlocking global opportunities via partnerships with WHO, World Health Innovation Forum,

TiE, IASP, among others. Medivalley’s new tower establishes a one-of-its-kind ecosystem to power the next generation of MedTech innovators from India to the world. From surgical needle to surgical robotics to AI-driven wearables, Medivalley’s expansion will fast-track commercialization for Indian startups with global ambitions. In the last five years Medivalley has incubated over 150 startups, enabled 40-plus research outcomes, and facilitated patents and technology transfers.

Describing the scale-up as a crucial moment for India’s healthcare innovation journey Dr.Jitendra Sharma, Executive Chairman, AIC-AMTZ MediValley and Managing Director and Founder CEO of AMTZ said, “The expansion of Medivalley is not just about creating more space—it is about building capacity for India’s next generation of MedTech leaders. We are ensuring that every idea, however small, finds the right ecosystem to scale into a product that

impacts lives, not just in India but globally.”

“With our upcoming 50,000 sq. ft. incubation hub, we are answering the call of startups and investors who want to be part of a trusted, affordable, and world-class ecosystem. This expansion strengthens the Make-in-India mission and positions Medivalley as a global epicenter for MedTech innovation,” added Dr. Sharma.

Medivalley’s strength lies in its location within the 270-acre AMTZ campus and the network of partnerships it has cultivated. The incubation has established collaborations with IBSC as a training partner, Biovalley as a life-science knowledge partner, upcoming MedTech University

as its on-campus academic partner, and IIM Vizag and IIT Tirupati for joint research and training.

This ecosystem has led to tangible achievements, including NABL-accredited PCT labs, BIS recognition, CDSCO registration, and ISO/IEC 17025 certification for testing and calibration services.

Till date, Medivalley has mobilized grants worth over Rs.60 crore from various authorities, including a recent sanction of Rs.7 crore from the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India. This achievement has been made possible under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Dilip Kumar Chekuri, Chief Executive Officer of MediValley and recipient of the prestigious AAMI John D. Hughes Iconoclast Award in the USA.

Medivalley has also signed alliances with over 150 corporate partners and 50 academic institutions, while winning prestigious recognition such as NITI Aayog’s Best MedTech Incubator in India, the CII MedTech Quality Champion (Platinum), Best Ecosystem Enabler (AIM Congress, Dubai). Startups incubated at Medivalley consistently highlight the transformative support they receive.

A health-tech founder, Dr. Nidun Jacob of Griva Healthcare P. Ltd. said, “At Medivalley, we didn’t just get an incubation space—we got access to mentors, prototyping labs, testing facilities, and investors, all under one roof. This kind of support is rare in India’s MedTech space.”
