Sharad to be first Indian MD of Nippon Paint India

Hyderabad: The NIPSEA Group, a subsidiary of Japan’s Nippon Paint Holdings, has announced the appointment of Sharad Malhotra as the new Managing Director of Nippon Paint India, effective December 1, 2025. Malhotra succeeds Jon Tan and will report to Wee Siew Kim, Co-President of Nippon Paint Holdings and Group CEO of NIPSEA Group. He is the first Indian to hold this leadership position in the company’s history.
Headquartered in Japan, Nippon Paint is the world’s fourth-largest paint manufacturer by revenue and the No. 1 paints and coatings company in the Asia-Pacific region.
The appointment aligns with the company’s strategic plans to deepen its presence in India—one of its fastest-growing and most promising markets. A veteran of over 15 years with Nippon Paint, Malhotra has been instrumental in building the company’s automotive refinish, wood coatings, and light industrial coatings businesses in India from the ground up. Currently a Director on the Board of Nippon Paint India, he recently led the company’s diversification beyond paints into emerging categories such as paint protection films and other surface enhancement solutions.
