Mumbai: Siddhartha Mohanty took over as the acting chairman of LIC on Tuesday.He took over from MR Kumar after the latter’s second extended tenurecame to a close on March 13.

Meanwhile, M Jagannath has already assumed his charge as MD of LIC,whereas Tablesh Pandey is likely to take over as another MD in April.

Appointment orders have been issued for M Jagannath and Tablesh Pandeyon March 13 to take over as managing directors of LIC. Bizz Buzz hasseen the copy of the appointment letter.

While Jagannath, who has already assumed his office from Hyderabad onMarch 13 his earlier place of posting, Pandey was likely to assume hisoffice in April.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved thefollowing proposals of the Department of Financial Services for theirappointment.

Appointment of M Jagannath, Zonal Manager(In-charge), Hyderabad Zone, LIC as Managing Director, inthe pay scale of Rs 2,05,400 to Rs 2,24,400 vice Raj Kumar with effectfrom the date of assumption of charge of office and upto the date ofhis superannuation (i.e. 31.5.2025), or until further orders,whichever is earlier, the appointment order says.

Appointment of Tablesh Pandey, ExecutiveDirector, Central Office, Mumbai as Managing Director, LIC ofIndia in the pay scale of Rs 2,05,400 to Rs 2,24,400 vice BC Patnaikwith effect from the date of assumption of charge of office on orafter 1.4.2023 and upto the date of his superannuation (i.e.31.05.2025), or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

In another development, Inderjeet Singh, who is currently working asGeneral Manager at New India assurance, is likely to take over as theSecretary General of General Insurance Council in early next month ongetting relieved from his current job at New India Assurance on March31. As of now, CR Vijayan, the deputy general secretary of theCouncil, is having an additional charge as the secretary general atthe GI Council and his term ends on March 31.
