Waltair Rly division sets new record

Visakhapatnam: Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved a historic milestone by handling an unprecedented 50 million tonnes (MT) of freight loading in just 230 days as of November 16 registering the best-ever performance in the division’s history and reflects a 12.5 per cent increase compared to the previous year. Waltair Division is also elevated to the 5th top-performing division across Indian Railways, improving its position from 6th last year. The previous record for reaching 50 million tonnes was set in 256 days during the 2023–24 period. Adding to its list of milestones, the division registered an all-time high of 7.10 MT of freight loading in October 2025, surpassing all earlier monthly records.
