PSGIC staff to go for strike in favour of their demand for 15% wage revision

Mumbai, July 01 The Joint Forum of 18 Trade Unions and Associations in Public Sector General Insurance Companies having around 58000 Employees and Officers will be holding a half-day sit-in dharna before CMDs on July 06, followed by Lunch Hours Demonstration in favour of their demand for 15 per cent wage hike.

It was decided during a webinar which was held on June 30. The sit-in Dharna will also be held before DGM/CRM followed by Lunch hour Demonstration at flag Company basis.

The meeting was convened by Girish Khurana, National Convener The Constituents of JFTU. The trade union leaders will meet again on July 11 to review the situation and decide about further course of actions.

They are also mulling for a day-long strike on July 22. It may be followed by an indefinite strike in future ib case nothing turns up.

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), LIC Employees Federation, World Federations of Trade Unions and many mass organisations have Come forward to support the Public Sector General Insurance Employees for there long pending Wage Revision, since August 2017 and other legitimate demands and have expressed solidarity with the ongoing movement of PSGI Employees and Officers.

Talking to Bizz Buzz, Trilok Singh, Convener JFTU, PSGICS Northern Zone, said, "The long pending wage revision talks between the General Insurers (Public Sector Associations of India) and the Check Off qualified unions in the Public Sector General Insurance Companies started on June 22. The wage revision for Public Sector General Insurance Employees was due from 01.08.2017."

The GIPSA management offered 7 per cent hike from the current date or 5 per cent hike from current date and 2 per cent arrears.

All the Unions and Associations rejected the GIPSA Management disgraceful, demotivating and humiliating offer of wage revision in one voice and demanded wage parity in Insurance sector not less than the wage revision in LIC.
