Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with electricity consumers of Visakhapatnam in virtual mode during an event being organised here on July 30 as part of "Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya Power@2047."

Visakhapatnam is chosen as recognition to AP Power sector and effective implementation of various electricity schemes of Government of India. The Ministry of Power informed the same to the State Government. The Prime Minister will spell out his vision for the improvement of the power sector during the event.

Andhra Pradesh government will organise Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavisya celebrations from July 25 to 31 in all districts as part of Azadi Ka amrut Mahotsav being conducted across the country. As per Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), the Prime Minister will address the electricity consumers in Visakhapatnam on July 30 as part of the celebrations.

Secretary, Power, GoI, Alok Kumar has already communicated to Chief Secretaries of all States including AP CS Sameer Sharma seeking support and involving the Energy Department, District Collectors and all the stakeholders in making the event memorable. The Ministry of Power nominated Piyush Singh, Joint Secretary, MoP exclusively to oversee the arrangements of the PM's video conference in Visakhapatnam.

Director General, Bureau of Energy Energy Abhay Bakre is pursuing with State Government as well as State Designated Agencies (SDAs) with regard to organising of the event. The State Government has already appointed Special Chief Secretary, Energy K. Vijayanand as state nodal officer for the celebrations. Sameer Sharma has requested all the District Collectors and other stakeholders to take all necessary steps to make the event successful.

The State Energy Department along with national organisations like BEE, NTPC, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) and REC has selected locations to organise the celebrations and made arrangements to display exhibition and short video films on universal access and household integration, one nation-one grid and renewable energy.

As per BEE & REC, the Prime Minister will interact with beneficiaries of various electricity schemes through video conference and explain about the vision of the government in the power sector by 2047 when the country completes 100 years of independence.
