Telangana is innovation hub of India: Industries Commissioner

Hyderabad Telangana is the innovation hub of India and Hyderabad is the start-up capital of the country, said Krishna Bhaskar, Director, Commissioner of Industries, during 2nd edition of 'Make in Telangana-State with Infinite Opportunities – A Conference on Business and Investment Opportunities in Telangana', organised by CII Telangana in partnership with State government.

"Four entrepreneurs from three startups being incubated at T-Hub have made it to the Forbes 30 under 30 Asia 2018 List. This is a pride moment for Telangana," he said adding that Telangana is consistently in the top rank in the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) rankings and the State is one of the fastest growing states in the country.

T-Fiber is expected to establish a state-of-the-art broadband network to fulfill the dream of 'Digital Telangana', which ensures access to internet connectivity to the rural Telangana. It is expected to provide to provide affordable and high-speed broadband connectivity and digital services to 83.58 lakh households.

The network shall be capable of delivering 4-100 mbps to households and on-demand 20-100 mbps to institutions and enterprises across 33 districts, 589 mandals, 12,751 gram panchayats, 10,128 villages. It will help to boost the digital revolution in not just tier-2 cities but also rural areas, Krishna Bhaskar informed.

While addressing the inaugural session of Make in Telangana, DRL Chairman Satish Reddy appreciated the industry growth momentum in the State. He mentioned that the life science sector in the State is poised grow in three folds and it is expected to reach $120 billion by 2030. The future growth of the sector depends upon innovation especially in drug discovery.

He said, "The State government should focus on promoting and strengthening more innovation hubs. Pharmaceutical and life sciences industry is an important part of Telangana with the presence over 800 pharma, biotech and med-tech companies in the State. Presence of premier educational institutions has made talented manpower always available to the industry."

V Rajanna, Past Chairman, CII Telangana & Sr. Vice President, TCS complimented Government of Telangana for its great support which helped IT Sector in the State to register an annual turnover of $16 billion with 12.9 per cent annual growth even during pandemic with a strong workforce of 6.3 Lakh.

Hyderabad is a great global talent hub with more than 4 lakh graduates passing out every year and this strength has played a pivotal role in attracting investments. He also mentioned that there is a need to have a framework to procure renewable energy either from government or from private sector and this would lead to strengthening sustainability aspect of the industry.

He also said that in general EoDB focuses only on new investments. However, there is need for a system in place in the Government which will help to solve the issues of the existing industry in stipulated time frames. This initiative will help in enhancing the efficiency of bureaucracy in the State.

D Raju, Managing Director and CEO Kirby Building Systems and Structures Pvt Ltd, said that now the focus is on Make in India, Make for the World. Recently Government of Telangana had approved the logistics and food processing policies, offering a host of incentives to the prospective entrepreneurs.

Mangalapally Logistics Park is a world class facility spread over 22 acres and the first integrated logistics park in India developed in PPP mode ready for commercial operations. The State Government is also developing a first-of-its-kind logistics park at Batasingaram in Hyderabad with warehousing, parking, and retail facilities.

The logistics policy of the State government is designed to enable the creation of 10-12 more logistic parks in the next two-three years to make it a Global Logistics hub.

Vagish Dixit, Vice Chairman, CII Telangana & MD, ALPLA India Ltd appreciated that the Government of Telangana has joined hands with the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to set up the National Centre for Additive Manufacturing (NCAM) in Hyderabad, to promote additive manufacturing, 3D printing and ecosystem.

Telangana is home of several research organisations and large scale private industries and more than 1,000 MSMEs operate from the city in Defence sector and does exports to foreign nations. Ease of doing business, proposed Pharma City, and TS- iPASS would benefit Telangana in scaling up in the industry sector and in three years, the State could see five times growth.
