VisakhapatnamIn a significant step towards empowering unemployed youth from project-affected villages, NTPC Simhadri Super Power Thermal Station has provided 100 % placement to trainees of a skill development program.

Under NTPC-Simhadri CSR initiatives a six- month free skill development in machine operator-injection moulding was organised through CIPET, Vijayawada, a government autonomous body at its campus.

The first batch of 30 candidates underwent the training from March to August, 2023.

The six-month-long training program conducted as a collaboration between NTPC-Simhadri and CIPET, was designed to equip participants with market-oriented and targeted skill sets. The objective was to foster a technically trained community, thereby enhancing employability and sustainable livelihood opportunities in and around the villages of NTPC-Simhadri.

Celebrating the successful conclusion of the first batch of training, a valedictory function took place at NTPC-Simhadri premises on Wednesday.

The event marked a significant milestone, as participants were awarded training completion certificates recognised by AICET, along with job offer letters from diverse automobile industries.

Ruma De Sharma-Head of HR, in her speech highlighted the pivotal role of the skill development program in playing pivotal role to shape individual futures and foster sustainable livelihoods.

The function was attended by Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Head of Project-Simhadri. While addressing the candidates, he highlighted the importance of CIPET skill development training, expressing the desire to see more candidates from project affected villages. Sinha asked the participants to avail the optimum advantage from the platform provided by NTPC-Simhadri and CIPET. He urged them to become brand ambassadors of NTPC-Simhadri to inspire others to partake in similar training programs.

Shekar, Joint Director & Head of CIPET-Vijayawada, along with members from the NTPC-Simhadri CSR and CIPET.

The momentous occasion stands as a testament to NTPC-Simhadri and CIPET's commitment to fostering growth, enhancing employability, and uplifting communities through skill development initiatives.
