NRAI’s Hyderabad chapter launched

Hyderabad The city chapter of the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) was formally inaugurated by Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industries & Information Technology, Govt of Telangana and Advisory Body Member for the NRAI Hyderabad Chapter.

The NRAI city Chapter, which currently has 250 members and intends to have over 2,000 members on board in a year and later spread across Telangana. The association aims to place the city on the national map and shall focus on building the food service industry. As per NRAI India Food Services Report 2019, the organised market share of restaurants in the city is Rs 6,037 crore.

The city chapter intends to give strong impetus in attracting investments into the food and beverage sector, commensurate to city's growing stature and encourage national and international brands to actively foray into this rapidly expanding city with global prominence. The chapter will give fillip to locally developed brands to go national and global.

Jayesh Ranjan said, "Hyderabad is known as a food hub, the city is reputed for its rich culinary tradition not just in India, even abroad. The restaurants and hospitality sector contributed enormously to the city gaining recognition as a global and cosmopolitan destination. An association of national repute like NRAI establishing a Hyderabad Chapter is an important milestone for the sector. The industry is also generating employment for locals and for workers coming from all over India."

In the last two years due to the pandemic like all other sectors hospitality sector also suffered immensely, but still the restaurant associations came forward and contributed through various CSR initiatives supporting the migrant workers and others who didn't have a steady source of income. He assured the gathering of Government support for any challenges the Hospitality Industry faces.

Founded in 1982, NRAI is the voice of the Indian Restaurant Industry. It represents over 5,00,000 restaurants and the industry valued Rs 4,23,865 crore. NRAI aspires to promote and strengthen the Indian food service sector. Headquartered in Delhi, the association has a pan India presence with members comprising of restaurants, suppliers and educational institutes associated with it.
