Hyderabad: NLC India Ltd, Neyveli, a navratna company under the Ministry of Coal said it has laid the foundation stone for the proposed OB to M-Sand Plant at Mine-IA, Neyveli. This plant will produce Civil construction Grade M-Sand of 2.62 lakh cubic meter per year from Mine Overburden.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 12, 2023 in the presence of Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD of NLCIL, alongside Functional Directors, Executive Directors and senior officials of NLCIL. The plant is likely to be operational by the end of January 2024.
NLC India Ltd in a press release said, “NLCIL is always in forefront to implement ‘Green Initiatives’ to take care of the environment. The new plant is very important in view of the scarcity of natural sand. It is part of the Green Initiatives that is in line with sustainable practices being promoted by Ministry of Coal, Govt of India for maximising the ‘Waste to Wealth Concept,’ in utilisation of natural sources and minimising the impact on environment and river eco-system.”
The Company further informed that similar and higher capacity plants will be installed in other mines at Neyveli, in due course. Motupalli said that already the contract has been awarded for execution and this environment friendly green initiative would be further expanded in future.
