New Delhi: Adding fleet of endorsements to his cap, Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra has collaborated with Tata AIA Life Insurance, a month after his historic victory. The announcement was made by the company on Wednesday wherein Neeraj Chopra is said to be the face of the health insurance company for a multi-year contract.

Speaking on the collaboration, Chopra said, "Since childhood I had heard of the name Tata alot but today I get to be a part of Tata AIA. I've primarily focused on sports and knew very little about life insurance. Usually, athletes leave such decision on life insurance upto the family members but we too should think about it. An athlete's career-span is rather short, so we must think about getting health insurance."

A month after winning India's first gold medal in athletics in August, Neeraj Chopra quickly rose to fame and is set to endorse other high-profile brands in the coming days. He has also signed an endorsement deal with edtech app Byjus. "I firmly believe that there is a need to educate Indians, especially the youth, about the need for life insurance and to help them plan for their financial goals, at the right time. Further, the pandemic has made us realize the key need to pursue physical and emotional wellbeing in our day-to-day life," Chopra stated.

Venky Iyer, Executive Vice President and Chief Distribution Officer, Tata AIA Life Insurance, announced that the Olympic Gold medallist has entered into a multi-year contract with the company to engage with the consumers, distribution and so on for the next couple of years.

"Neeraj's story is one of passion and excellence, simplicity and consistency, we see it associating well with what Tata AIA stands for also," Iyer said.

"We will continue to be in the business of protecting lives of people in India. Health and wellness are where we are going to be focusing on and we already got out some products in this space. We have brought about the angle of market link returns also in life insurance," Iyer added.
