Trade body, Confederation of Indian Industry Telangana on Friday organised the CII Telangana Cyber Security Summit 2023, in Hyderabad.
The event, themed ‘Cybersecurity for the next generation: Empowering digital citizens at Hyderabad,’ was inaugurated by Dr. Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Telangana.
In his address, Jayesh Ranjan highlighted the government’s focus on creating cybersecurity awareness at the grassroots level in rural areas and implementing a cybersecurity course for graduation students. He urged industries to innovate affordable solutions for MSMEs.
Dr Ranjan recalled the launch of Digital India nine years ago, emphasising the Prime Minister’s goal to defend against cybersecurity threats. Telangana, under the leadership of the IT Minister, has been a pioneer in establishing a Cybersecurity Policy, ensuring the State remains unaffected by such threats, he said. In his welcome address, C Shekar Reddy, Chairman, CII Telangana outlined CII’s data privacy initiatives. These include the CII centre of excellence on digital transformation. He also highlighted the ongoing CII national survey on data privacy and Cyber Raksha Kavach 2023. EVOLV, led by CII, is a strategic effort to equip entrepreneurs with a global playbook, fostering a network of innovative tech startups to drive technological progress and economic growth, he added. Sanjeev Deshpande, Convenor - CII Telangana Digital Transformation, stressed on the need of a robust cybersecurity mechanism for industry digitalisation. While larger organisations are adapting, he emphasised that MSMEs should consider the importance of cybersecurity as integral for success of business.
