New delivery structure may aid growth prospects at Tech Mahindra

Hyderabad: Mid-tier IT services company, Tech Mahindra on Monday announced the appointment of Atul Soneja as the Chief Operating Officer effective August 7, 2023.

Prior to joining Tech Mahindra, Soneja served as the Chief Operating Officer at CitiusTech where he was responsible for managing the overall delivery, service lines and operations for CitiusTech. Before joining CitiusTech, the executive held several leadership roles in Infosys and its subsidiaries including Edgeverve.

“On behalf of the Board and the entire team, I am happy to welcome Atul Soneja to Tech Mahindra. His rich experience and vast knowledge of the industry, combined with his relentless dedication to automation, make him an ideal candidate to lead our operations. We are confident that Atul’s expertise will help us drive growth and enhance our capability to deliver innovative solutions.” CP Gurnani, MD & CEO, Tech Mahindra, said.

Mohit Joshi, MD & CEO Designate of Tech Mahindra, said, “We are happy to welcome Atul Soneja as our COO. He complements our high-performance culture, and his execution-focused approach, firm belief in extreme ownership and zeal to build a collaborative culture make him the perfect choice to lead our operations. With him on board, we look forward to driving scale and growth globally.”

Tech Mahindra is facing growth bumps owing to a tepid demand environment coupled with high exposure to telecom vertical. The IT firm’s Q1 revenue fell by 4.2 per cent in constant currency term on sequential basis in the ongoing financial year. CME (communication, media and entertainment) vertical contributed more than 40 per cent to Tech Mahindra’s total income during the first quarter of FY24. Growth rate in the communication vertical declined 8.2 per cent on year-on-year basis owing to the weakness in the spend.

With slew of new appointments, the company is in pursuit of driving top line growth in a difficult operating environment.
