Infosys comes cracking down on dual employment, warns termination; diktat won't work say techies

Tirupati Minister for IT, Commerce and Industry Gudivada Amarnath said on Friday that IT giant Infosys will set up a huge facility in Visakhapatnam in a month or two.

He told the media at Tirumala that Infosys will start with a 1,000 seater initially. Later it will expand to 3,000 seats.

Top officials from Infosys, who are keen to expand to tier two cities, searched for plug and play facility on lease with a built-up area of one lakh sft at Rushikonda IT Park. It will move to own campus later.

The Minister said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is keen to develop IT at Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Vijayawada. He said the YSRCP Government's policies have already led to job opportunities for 30,000 in past two years in IT and ITES.

Decks are cleared for launching of work for Adani Data Centre and other facilities at Kapulappada in Visakhapatnam.

The Adani Group will be investing around Rs.14,500 crore. The layout plan for buildings in an area of 130 acres was recently approved by Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA).

The Minister said they have invited several big players to invest in IT in Andhra Pradesh.
