Ahead of his India visit, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that artificial intelligence should be treated as national infrastructure and said AI will generate large-scale employment in India. He also stressed the need for India to build and refine its own AI models to support long-term growth.

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, said India must view artificial intelligence as core infrastructure and expressed strong confidence that AI will create significant employment opportunities across the country. Speaking ahead of his visit to India, Huang dismissed fears that AI would primarily lead to job losses, instead comparing its impact to the internet era, which generated widespread new roles.

Huang underlined that while foundational AI technologies may be developed globally, India must develop, fine-tune, and continuously improve its own AI models. He described AI infrastructure as being as essential as electricity, water, and roads, arguing that Indian companies need domestic AI capabilities to remain competitive.

He also pointed to a major transformation ahead for India’s IT services sector. According to Huang, traditional software development and maintenance roles are likely to evolve into new-age AI-driven services. Indian IT firms could increasingly build and manage agentic AI systems that help global businesses automate workflows, improve productivity, and accelerate operations. This shift, he noted, will require large-scale reskilling and reinvention of the workforce.

Highlighting Nvidia’s commitment to the country, Huang referenced the company’s significant investment in India and encouraged not only the hosting but also the domestic development of data centers by Indian firms. He emphasized that AI growth would generate jobs both upstream, such as in infrastructure and hardware ecosystems, and downstream, in services and applications.

With Nvidia now among the world’s most valuable companies, Huang’s upcoming participation in India’s AI-focused engagements is expected to further energize India’s ambitions to become a major player in the global AI landscape.
