Hyderabad: IKP Knowledge Park (IKP), a not-for-profit wet lab research park and incubator based at Genome Valley in Hyderabad recently completed 22 years of operations. During the period, IKP has supported over 1,300 companies, startups and innovator projects by providing facilities, mentorship, IP services and seed funding.

IKP on October 30 concluded its two-day and 16th flagship conference, 'International Knowledge Millennium Conference,' at HICC in the city. The theme for this year's conference was about, 'Sculpting the Next: Enabling a future-ready India.' The event witnessed discussions about how ecosystem enablers such as IKP can support innovators and industry in solving problems of tomorrow impacting the health of humans.

"IKP completed 22 years of operation. This experiment of creating a 'world-class centre for leading-edge business-driven research' in a 200-acre Science Park in Hyderabad has grown into a pan-India innovation ecosystem," Chairperson and CEO of IKP, Deepanwita Chattopadhyay, said.

Around 600 delegates and guests participated in IKMC2022. Company representatives, startups and innovators, incubator managers, experts, investors, government officials and policy makers were present. A startup product exhibition was held wherein 80 selected startups from healthtech, medtech, biopharma, industrial biotech, agritech and AI, ML presented their technologies.

The conference deliberated on issues around, 'How should India make itself ready to embrace changes and what are the next generation innovation tools and products that ecosystem enablers like IKP should build to help India become future-ready?'

Dr R A Mashelkar, Chairman, New Energy Council of Reliance Industries and former DG, CSIR presided over the inaugural ceremony. Prof A J te Velthuis from Princeton University, USA and Prof Uday Desai, founding Director and Prof Emeritus, IIT Hyderabad gave the keynote speech with a focus on 'Emerging technologies shaping the future.' Dr Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and other industry and academic experts provided their insights on 'scaling biologics.'
