Low-cost medtech AI solutions to be showcased at Delhi AI Impact Summit

A wide range of cost-effective, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled medical technology solutions designed for scalable deployment in India’s healthcare ecosystem will be showcased at the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled from February 16 to 20 in New Delhi.
Associated with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and AIM Foundation, Dr Rakesh Kalapala, the Director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Innovation at AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, will deliver a dedicated session at Bharat Mandapam on February 20 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, highlighting translational AI applications that move beyond pilot projects into measurable clinical impact.
Dr Kalapala’s presentation will focus on validated, real-world AI use cases tailored to India’s public health priorities.
The key domains include, AI-enabled risk stratification and early detection models for metabolic liver disease (fatty liver disease) and digital tools for maternal nutrition monitoring and predictive pregnancy care.
Also, focus will be on intelligent optimisation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems to enhance workflow efficiency and clinical decision support
Speaking ahead of the summit, Dr Kalapala emphasised the need for indigenous research frameworks in healthcare AI. “AI in healthcare cannot be driven solely by extrapolation from Western datasets. We need robust, Indian randomised controlled trials and locally validated data models to ensure accuracy, safety and scalability. Indigenous evidence generation is critical for responsible AI deployment,” he stated.
The session will also present outcomes and insights from a recent collaborative initiative between the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the AIM Foundation and AIG Hospitals, aimed at building affordable, AI-powered healthcare solutions aligned with national priorities.
With a strong focus on clinical validation, data integrity and implementation science, Dr Kalapala’s address is expected to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing dialogue on operationalising AI in India’s healthcare system.
