The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said that Oregon Potato Company is a family owned business in Salem specializing in frozen and dehydrated vegetables, potatoes, and fruits. It has flagged about 55,689 pounds of independently quick-frozen blueberries.
However, the notice was earlier shared on Feb. 12, regulators on Tuesday upgraded it to a Class 1 recall, with the warning shared by officials. The usage of the potential Listeria contamination risk could result in serious poor health consequences. It might also result in death as well.
The FDA said the product was distributed all over the different U.S. states. The list of states includes Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, and Canada. The product was not sold directly to buyers in retail stores but instead moved in the middle of the businesses within the supply chain.
The frozen blueberry recall was initiated via email, stay ongoing. The affected products comprise 30-pound cases. It can bear the lot codes 2055 B2, 2065 B1 and 2065 B3. They are packaged in polyethylene bags within corrugated cases, a focused dual-layered design.
Regulators mentioned that 1,400-pound totes were also involved, with lot codes 3305 A1 and 3305 B1. Both products expire on Nov. 25, 2027. The product is properly packaged in polyethylene liners within Gaylord totes. It is basically a heavy-duty, industrial-grade plastic bag positioned in large bulk-shipping containers.
