Hyderabad: AIG Hospitals hosted the Gut & Metabolic Summit 2025 at its Gachibowli campus on December 17 and 18, bringing together leading clinicians, researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and community representatives to address the growing burden of obesity and metabolic disorders.
The two-day summit focused on the evolving challenges of metabolic health and emphasised the need for multidisciplinary and community-driven approaches. The event featured national and international experts from diverse specialties, who shared insights on lifestyle medicine, gut microbiome-based therapies, bariatric and endoscopic interventions, AI-driven predictive genomics, and personalised nutrition.
Experts highlighted the complex nature of obesity and metabolic diseases, underscoring the importance of collaborative solutions that extend beyond conventional clinical care. Scientific sessions were complemented by discussions on emerging technologies and preventive strategies aimed at early identification and long-term management of metabolic conditions. A major highlight of the summit was the Community Awareness Program, which brought together stakeholders from healthcare, technology, policy, and industry, including IAS officers, technology innovators, and patients. The programme focused on bridging the gap between science and society, exploring the impact of obesity on individuals, workplaces, and communities, while stressing the importance of prevention, early education, and public-private collaboration.
Speaking at the summit, Dr D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals, said metabolic diseases require a broader, integrated response beyond clinical intervention. He noted that sustainable impact can be achieved only through multidisciplinary leadership that combines scientific innovation, preventive care, public awareness, and long-term community-focused strategies.
Dr Rakesh Kalapala, Director of the Centre for Obesity & Metabolic Therapy at AIG Hospitals, said the future of metabolic healthcare lies in integrating advanced medical treatment with lifestyle support and community engagement.
