Green drive makes stake holders take a conscious call

Hyderabad The IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) certified green building product and solution providers from across the country are seeing better business opportunities in Hyderabad as many top builders are keen on being rated as green building. Compared to Bengaluru and Chennai in the South States, the branded builders here are progressive and reputation conscious, say green building product makers.

The green building solution providers showcased their products in the first edition of IGBC Green Property Show held in Hyderabad on July 28, 29 & 30, 2023.

A Bengaluru-based company with over 37 years of experience, Ecotech Engineering, showcased their waste-water treatment solution to the property developers of Hyderabad. Few builders in the city have already signed the company to put up a new sewage treatment plant (STP) in their upcoming projects.

Speaking with Bizz Buzz, Dr Janardhan Kodavasal, Vice President, Ecotech Engineering, said: “We prefer to connect with the top builders in the city to provide our solutions as they are conscious about their reputation while dealing with high-end properties. In Hyderabad, there are top 10 developers with whom we have already connected. Builders are progressive compared to that of Bengaluru, as they have technical conversations about setting up of STP.”

Kodavasal informed that in Hyderabad builders are facing confusion and risk of reputation too. “They have dealt with so many startups and burnt their hands, making them conscious. There are many startups in the field talking about patented unproven technology. They sell a lot of hype but when occupancy ramps up the STP stops working. We are excited to be present in this city and talk business with niche builders.”

He further said that while in Chennai the builders look for low cost solutions, in Hyderabad and Pune the well-known builders are aware about getting the right solution. “The demand is huge in Hyderabad as it is only a matter of educating public who are occupying these buildings as well as the builders,” he adds.

Neetu Jain, the founder of Panache Greentech Solutions Private Limited was all praise for the Government of Telangana, for introducing the Cool Roof Policy. “We are on a mission of creating cool green cities. The policy introduced by Telangana government is a shot in the arm for solution providers like me. Earlier, builders used to negotiate a lot on the costing of the product but now with the green building movement they are more aware and ready to accept. However, we find it hard to get affordable housing projects from any of the State governments.”

Founded in 2011,the Gujarat-based company provides high SRI coatings, solar insulation, and thermal insulation solutions to green building developers, warehouses and industries. Panache Greentech has served Asian Paints plants in Visakhapatnam, Mysore and worked on research of cool roof project for IIIT-H, ASCE and as educator for CRRC, US.

The CEO of Hyderabad-based BlueDrop Enviro Ganges Reddy has called the Telangana government to adopt his engineered aerated treatment wetland systems. “We have a total of 60 clients. We have been doing this from the last seven years but in Hyderabad the response for our engineered aerated treatment wetland systems has increased from the last three years. STPs are operation and maintenance intensive. If you can save a lot on energy, then you have gained a lot. That is the concern of the government which we can solve. I hope they wake up to the call and implement it as our STPs are beneficiary to lakes and water bodies too.”

Among other exhibitors, PhD students from IITH hadalsodisplayed their sustainable solutions which include biodegradable plastic made out of tamarind seed, cellular geopolymer infills, and infills made of rice husk.

The Green Property Show was able to create a platform for property developers, green building product manufacturers to showcase their products and create awareness about the available IGBC certified/pre-certified projects/solutions.
