EASE OF DOING BUSINESS IS TOP PRIORITY FOR AP GOVERNMENT : MR GUDIVADA AMARNATH

Tirupati Minister for IT, Industries and Commerce Gudivada Amarnath on Friday said getting NO. 1 rank in Ease of doing Business ranking for the second consecutive time is a testimony to the commitment of YSRCP Government for enabling smooth running for any business in the State.

Speaking at the CII Southern Regional Council Meeting here, he said the State Government has launched exclusive policies for industry, IT, MSME and electric vehicles among others, which are all business-friendly and help industry to expand their businesses. He said that the government wants to create an environment where businesses can be run hassle-free, has no major tax implications, and pass through a single window for clearances besides making available land for industry projects in the State.

The Minister said that the State Government will soon start the construction of a brownfield airport in Dagadarthi in Nellore district. The State also has an operational airport at Oravakul near Kurnool. Logistics parks are being planned adjacent to these airports so that air cargo can be made easier, he added.

Amarnath said that the State Government has set up AP Green Energy Corporation with a mandate to install 8000 MW to 10,000 MW of dedicated solar power capacity. The State has also started works related to building a greenfield sea port at Ramayapatnam to meet the ever-increasing cargo demand. The estimated cost for phase I is Rs.3,766 crore (US$ 530 million).

The AP Government is planning to develop required business infrastructure in all the district headquarters so that every district can become an industrial hub by itself, he added.

Amarnath said that the other key industry sectors the government is keen to promote are agriculture, IT, renewable energy, pharma, logistics, petrochemicals, marine products and tourism, among others.

Suchitra Ella, Chairperson, CII Southern Region said that CII has been engaged with the State's development since long and has undertaken a range of initiatives across key sectors of agriculture, pharma, manufacturing, infrastructure, exports, skill development, entrepreneurship, startups, MSMEs and also CSR.

Ella said that AP has huge potential for startups and urged the government to come up with an exclusive startup policy to support growth of startups in the State. Similarly, the government can also set up logistics and pharma parks in the State which can attract new investment and create employment opportunities for people in the State, she added.

Ella urged the Minister to consider setting up of a CII-Government Andhra Pradesh Consultative Forum to further strengthen CII's engagement and partnership with the government in promoting industrial growth.

The CII Southern Regional Council Meeting was attended by over 60 leading CEOs and captains of Industry from all Southern States–AP, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu & Telangana.
