GameStop is supposed to be the largest video game retailer in the world. Officially, it has designated three more preferred gaming platforms, “retro consoles”. The company is now offering a limited time trade-in credit for the brands’ consoles, accessories and games.

An announcement is made on March 16 by the company officials. The decision is to declare the Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, and the Nintendo Wii U retro consoles was reached after a watchful analysis that comprises different factors, like the lack of the consoles’ ability to run the popular game Fortnite, and the presence of component cables. The realization is that they launched when George W. Bush was still president.

In a March 16 announcement, company officials said the decision to declare the Sony PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii U retro consoles was reached after a careful analysis that included several factors, including the lack of the consoles’ ability to run the popular game Fortnite, the presence of component cables and “the realization that they launched when George W. Bush was still president.”

The company added, ‘The newly classified consoles now join the ranks of other beloved hardware in the retro category, like the Sega Saturn and the Nintendo DS’.

The announcement stated, “GameStop will run a Retro Trade-In Bonus offer now through March 21st. Customers who bring in Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or any older consoles, games or accessories will be rewarded with an additional 10% in trade credit.”

The officials of the company also added that GameStop stores will also recognise defective retro consoles for trade that comprise non-operable consoles. The missing accessories are called as “aesthetically unfortunate.”
