GMR Power and Urban Infra Limited has incorporated a new wholly owned renewable energy subsidiary in Karnataka through its arm GMR Energy Limited, strengthening the group’s clean energy footprint in the state.

GMR Power and Urban Infra Limited has announced the incorporation of a new wholly owned subsidiary, GMR Karnataka Renewable Energy-I Limited (GKREL), aimed at developing renewable energy power projects in Karnataka.

The subsidiary was incorporated on February 28, 2026, through GMR Energy Limited, which is itself a wholly owned subsidiary of GMR Power and Urban Infra Limited. GKREL has been established with a paid-up capital of ₹5 lakh, comprising 50,000 equity shares of ₹10 each, subscribed through the memorandum of association.

GKREL will operate in the renewable energy sector, focusing on the generation and transmission of power through renewable resources. The company stated that the new entity has been set up to develop renewable energy power plants specifically in Karnataka, aligning with the group’s broader clean energy strategy.
