Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Government will promote energy conservation and efficiency in a big way to achieve sustainability of power sector and overall economic development across the State.

During a telephonic conversation with Energy Secretary Srikant Nagulapalli to discuss National Energy Conservation Week-2021 being held from December 14, Minister for Energy Balineni Srinivasa Reddy asked the Energy Department to take a proactive role by ensuring active involvement of all the stakeholders even at the grassroots level to make the event a grand success by devising suitable action plan at district level.

The Minister said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is keen on achieving cost-effective power in the State for which the government has been taking several significant steps to continue reliable and quality power supply with less expenditure in future as well. As part of this, the government has decided to procure

power from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for supplying 9 hours daytime free power to the agriculture sector and promoting energy conservation and energy efficiency in a big way.

The Energy Minister has emphasized the need for active involvement of all government departments in energy conservation and energy efficiency activities. The government officials at all levels are urged to deeply involve and promote energy efficiency activities in their respective departments that will help create awareness among employees and motivate the general public as well. The Minister also requested them to practise energy efficiency in their daily life and become exemplary to the common man to motivate them to be more energy efficiency conscious.

Underlining the need of building an energy efficiency movement in the State, Energy Secretary Srikant said that the objective of the State Government is to achieve cost-effective power ihat may be fulfilled with various best practices in the power sector including implementation of energy conservation and energy efficiency.
