Hyderabad: Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt Ltd will commission its third manufacturing unit at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh on November 23 to service the needs of two Telugu States, said Kanwaljeet Jawa, Chairman and Managing Director of the company. The new plant will come up in a 100-acre land involving an investment of Rs 2,000 crore, to produce 20 lakh air conditioners per annum.

Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt Ltd, along with its authorised dealer and air conditioning solution provider in South India, unveiled its first and the largest full-line showroom in South India - Sri Comfort Air Products & Services at SP Road, Secunderabad on Wednesday. Kanwaljeet and Sri Comforts CEO B Kalyanaraman inaugurated the showroom.

On the occasion, the CMD said: “Daikin established its first plant at Neemrana in Rajasthan two decades ago. In 2017, another plant was established at the same location. Last year, we have initiated the third plant at Sri City. We are a global company operating in 150 countries. In India, we crossed a turnover of $1 billion last year, we are known as a unicorn now.”

He further said, “The world is going through challenging times, but India’s growth story still remains robust, as our country climbs to be among the top five economies of the world powered by manufacturing, agriculture, real estate development, service and particularly IT sectors, we are getting ready for an explosive growth phase.”

Speaking about the regional dealer, Kanwaljeet said: “Twelve years ago, when I came here for opening of the first solution plaza for Sri Comforts, their turnover was Rs 12 crore, and it has grown ten times today. The growth of Daikin has been in the same legacy in the last 14 years. Daikin India has surpassed more than 15 competitors to become the number one HVAC brand in India.”

“We have 4.5 million customers today connected through our Daikin solution plazas and dealers. With its manufacturing capabilities and best price proposition, Daikin is ready to serve the world through high decibel exports. In the next five years, Daikin will take advantage of the PLI schemes and other growth government schemes to invest and develop India as the manufacturing Mecca for the world,” he added.
