CII AP to work towards sustainability, globalisation

Hyderabad Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Andhra Pradesh will work on the theme of the year ‘Towards a Competitive and Sustainable Andhra Pradesh@100: Growth, Competitiveness, Sustainability, Globalisation, Building Trust’, says Dr M Lakshmi Prasad, Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh, in a meeting on Tuesday at Vijayawada.

On the occasion, he shared a detailed presentation outlining the CII national, regional and State level initiatives for the year 2023-24. He revealed CII’s nine-point agenda comprising people; sustainability & ESG; tech adoption & digital transformation; embracing energy transition; startup ecosystem; Industry 4.0; partnerships, collaboration & international linkages; MSMEs; brand building & sectoral promotion.

He said, “India's GDP is expected to grow at a rate of 6.5 per cent to 6.7 per cent, with CII envisioning a 7 per cent growth rate. With abundant resources and skilled workforce, India has emerged as a manufacturing hub after China.” Furthermore, he called upon the youth to embrace innovation and entrepreneurship, encouraging them to explore the vast opportunities in startups.

“Currently, India is the fifth largest economy in the world and it is poised to become the third largest, reflecting the nation's unwavering spirit. To sustain this growth trajectory, we need to increase exports and reduce imports,” Dr Prasad said, stressing the importance of focusing on manufacturing, leveraging India's skilled and cost-effective manpower.

He said about the constitution of CII AP Panels and Task Forces for the year 2023-24. These sectoral panels & taskforces are aligned with the above mentioned nine-point agenda to guide the CII members and advise the State government. He also spoke about the 10 CII's Centres of Excellence and the role they play in promoting manufacturing excellence, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
