Visakhapatnam: Omar Rai, Director General, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) on Tuesday said that self-reliance in technology adoption to industry is promoted through the initiatives of Make in India and Made in India.

He was speaking at a conference organised by CII on digital manufacturing with a focus on "Industry 4.0 Strategies", in virtual mode.

He said that accelerating growth in manufacturing sector is vital to create a demand for service sector.

Referring to growth of startup ecosystem, he pointed out that India is the third-largest startup market globally. In order to promote entrepreneurship, Software Technology Park of India has initiated a plan to set up Center for Entrepreneurship to promote industry 4.0 technologies in the State. The proposed Center of Excellence would encourage young talent and will be a big push to startups, he added.

Vinay Inamdar, Head-Strategic Enterprise Accounts, Cisco Commerce India Private Limited, made a detailed presentation on trusted work place and getting back to business.

He was of the view that building trusted work place is essential for the success of an organisation in view of the current pandemic. The recent occurrences have caused a tectonic shift in organising various meetings, he felt.

Ravi Raghavan, CEO & Managing Director, Bharat Fritz Werner Ltd in his presentation highlighted the strategies for the implementation of industry 4.0 technologies among manufacturing companies. In order to implement Industry 4.0 technologies among manufacturing organisations there is a need to have top-down approach, he pointed out.

DK Mohanty, Chairman, CII Visakhapatnam Zone & Chairman and Managing Director (In charge), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd in his address highlighted on the resilience of manufacturing sector through industry 4.0 technologies. Diversity and flexibility is vital for the successful implementation of smart technologies in any organisation, he said.

Neeraj Sarda, Vice Chairman, CII AP & Deputy Managing Director, Sarda Metals & Alloys Ltd delivered the welcome remarks at the inaugural session and conducted the proceedings.
