New Delhi: Airlines on Wednesday welcomed the government’s decision to allow only a partial and staggered increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices, calling it a timely relief as the industry grapples with rising global fuel costs amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

SpiceJet Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh described the decision as a “significant relief” for the aviation sector, noting that it would help airlines navigate a period marked by severe external disruptions and volatility in fuel markets.

IndiGo also welcomed the move, stating that the partial hike would help insulate domestic air travel costs from the sharp rise in ATF prices.
