Air India resumes flights to Heathrow after power outage disruptions

Air India has resumed its flight operations to and from London Heathrow Airport after a power outage caused widespread disruptions. Alongside Air India, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic also restarted their services to the airport, with Heathrow confirming it is now fully operational, though some delays may still be expected.
Thousands of passengers faced travel disruptions due to the power outage on Friday, which led to the cancellation of numerous flights, affecting travelers, including those flying from India. British Airways announced it would operate around 85% of its scheduled flights on Saturday, though delays were anticipated as the airline worked to recover from the incident.
Air India confirmed that its operations to and from Heathrow had returned to normal. Flight AI111 was operating as scheduled, while other flights to London were also expected to run on time. Air India's flight AI161, which was diverted to Frankfurt due to the outage, was set to depart Frankfurt at 14:05 local time.
Delhi Airport, which connects with Heathrow through six daily flights, reported that flights from Air India, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic were all operating on Saturday morning. Another Air India flight was scheduled for the afternoon.
British Airways runs eight daily flights between India and Heathrow, including three from Mumbai and two from Delhi. Virgin Atlantic offers five daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, while Air India operates six daily flights to Heathrow.
Heathrow Airport assured travelers through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) that it was fully operational, and teams were working tirelessly to support passengers impacted by the previous day's power outage.
