On the evening of July 21, 2025, Air India Flight AI2403, bound for Kolkata, was forced to abort take-off at 155 km/h on Delhi's runway after a technical snag was detected mid-roll. The pilots promptly applied emergency brakes, halting the aircraft on the runway.

The A321 jet, carrying 160 passengers, was scheduled to depart at 7:30 pm but was later rescheduled for later that night following standard technical checks.

An Air India spokesperson assured that all passengers deboarded safely and that ground staff in Delhi were offering full support. The airline reiterated that passenger safety remains its top priority.

.Earlier the same day, another Air India flight arriving from Kochi veered off Mumbai’s wet runway, sustaining minor engine damage after slipping into adjacent grass—but fortunately, without injuries.

This incident adds to growing scrutiny on airline safety: the Civil Aviation Ministry informed Rajya Sabha that in the past six months, Air India has received nine show-cause notices for five safety violations, and the tragedy of Flight AI171 in June—which tragically crashed shortly after take-off—continues to prompt exhaustive operational reviews
