Tata Harrier EV — Specifications explained

Mumbai: Tata Motors is stepping up its electric game with the upcoming Harrier EV, and early specs reveal it’s not just a greener alternative—but a serious SUV contender. With an aggressive stance, advanced tech, and impressive range estimates, the Harrier EV is positioned to be a milestone in India's electric mobility story.
Built on Born-EV Architecture
Unlike Tata’s earlier electric models which were built on modified ICE platforms, the Harrier EV will ride on the company’s new-gen “Acti.EV” architecture—designed from the ground up for electric vehicles. This platform promises better weight distribution, improved battery packaging, and enhanced safety.
Dual-Motor AWD Configuration
The Harrier EV will offer a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup, making it Tata’s first electric SUV with AWD capability. This means better control, off-road readiness, and performance under varying road conditions—a big plus for SUV lovers.
Battery & Range
While Tata hasn’t officially disclosed the exact battery capacity, estimates suggest a 60–70 kWh battery pack, which could offer a real-world range of over 500 km on a single charge. This would place the Harrier EV among the top performers in India’s growing EV segment.
Charging & Connectivity
The Harrier EV will support fast charging, likely through both CCS2 DC ports and AC wall box options. Tata is also pushing for V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) capability, allowing the EV to power external devices—a feature useful during emergencies or camping.
The car will also come loaded with connected features via Tata’s iRA platform, including remote monitoring, OTA updates, geo-fencing, and possibly ADAS Level 2 functionalities.
Bold Design, Future-Ready Interiors
In terms of design, the Harrier EV retains the muscular appeal of its ICE sibling but adds EV-specific styling cues:
Closed-off front grille
Aerodynamic alloy wheels
Blue highlights
LED light bar across the tailgate
Inside, expect a clean, tech-heavy cabin with a large touchscreen, digital driver display, and sustainable materials.
Expected Launch Timeline
Tata Motors is likely to unveil the production-ready Harrier EV in the second half of 2025, with deliveries expected to begin in early 2026. The vehicle will go head-to-head with rivals like the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, and upcoming Mahindra BE models.
