The launch of Tata Altroz facelift has generated a buying interest in the premium hatchback segment. Moreover, it’s set to compete with the segment's bestseller the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

Here’s a detailed comparison between Tata Altroz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno based on design, features, specifications, and safety.

Design and dimension

Tata Altroz has been a top-of-the line hatchback and the new update gives it a premium look. The car features a revamped grille, new tail lamps, while retaining its sporty demeanour.

Meanwhile, the updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno aims to blend sportiness, sophistication, and practicality with its sturdy design. It offers a boot space of 318 litres and measures 3,990 mm in length, 1,745 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height.

Features and safety

The all-new Altroz encompasses features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch TFT instrument cluster, flush door handles, among others. Other notable ones include a sunroof, 16-inch wheels, cruise control, wireless charging and more.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno encompasses 16-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights, a head-up display, cruise control, a 9-inch infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity. However, it misses the sunroof and a TFT instrument console, which the Altroz gets.

Altroz facelift comes with 6 airbags as standard, while the premium variants get a blind-spot monitor, 360-degree camera, rear-view camera, auto wipers and headlights amongst others. Similarly, Baleno gets two airbags as standard while the top variant gets six. Both get ABS, ESC, hill hold, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Engine

Altroz is the only model available in a diesel engine segment, while Baleno comes with a standard petrol engine and with a CNG option. Altroz facelift features a manual, AMT, or a DCT gearbox while the Baleno gets a manual or an AMT gearbox.
