As the Indian motorcycle market continues to expand, global players are increasingly turning their attention to the subcontinent—and Norton is the latest name looking to make waves. Backed by TVS, the iconic British brand is preparing to roll out not one, but six new motorcycles in India over the next three years.

According to an exclusive report by Autocar Professional, Norton’s upcoming lineup will include all-new single-cylinder and twin-cylinder engine platforms. This marks a bold step in Norton's India journey and sets the stage for a direct showdown with market heavyweight Royal Enfield.

New Engines, New Direction

Though official specifications are still under wraps, sources suggest the new single-cylinder engine will fall in the 400–450cc range, while the parallel-twin engine will likely land between 600–650cc. These segments are already popular in India, and Norton’s entry is expected to spice things up considerably.

With Royal Enfield’s 350cc offerings dominating the single-cylinder segment, Norton might aim slightly higher with a larger-displacement single-cylinder engine. This could be a strategic move to offer something different and carve out a niche of its own.

What’s Norton Planning for India?

It’s anticipated that Norton will launch the single-cylinder bikes first, followed by the parallel-twin models. Alongside the launch strategy, the brand is also rumored to be setting up a local production facility in India. Interestingly, Norton is also considering localizing production of its high-performance 1200cc V4 engine—currently used in models like the V4SV and V4CR.

Whether these high-end superbikes will be manufactured entirely in India or just assembled here for export is yet to be confirmed. However, this move clearly signals Norton’s serious intent to establish itself as a premium yet locally accessible motorcycle brand.

With deep British heritage and aggressive new plans for India, Norton could soon emerge as one of Royal Enfield’s fiercest challengers on home turf.
