Land Rover has expanded its high-performance lineup with the introduction of the Defender Octa Black, a new iteration that highlights stealth design and power. This variant of the Defender OCTA SUV features an all-black theme and performance enhancements tailored for both rugged off-road conditions and striking road presence.
The Octa Black is painted in Narvik Black, recognized as the darkest shade in the Defender color options. A total of 30 distinct components across the body—including the front underbody shield, scuff plates, tow eye covers, quad exhaust tips, and even undercarriage elements such as the exhaust silencer cover—are finished in either Gloss or Satin Black. Optional enhancements include a matte protective wrap and 22-inch gloss black wheels.
Inside, the SUV debuts Ebony Semi-Aniline Leather combined with Kvadrat upholstery, a first for the Defender series. The performance seats feature a refreshed perforation design and unique stitching. Carpathian Grey highlights are added on seat backs and interior trims. Customers seeking a more performance-inspired ambiance can opt for Chopped Carbon Fibre accents.
Mechanically, the Octa Black retains the original Defender OCTA’s 4.4-litre twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8, producing 626bhp. It also continues with the 6D Dynamics suspension setup and Octa Mode, engineered for off-road high-performance capability. The front seats come equipped with Body and Soul Seats (BASS), enabling audio sensations through vibrations, driven by a 700W Meridian sound system in collaboration with SUBPAC.
The SUV incorporates recent updates from the Defender range, including a 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display, updated LED headlight graphics, and flush rear lamps with smoked lenses.
In addition to Octa Black, new color options introduced in the Defender OCTA series include Sargasso Blue and Borasco Grey. A Patagonia White Matte Wrap is expected to be released later this year.
The launch coincides with Defender’s global partnership with the Oasis Live '25 tour, which commences today in the United Kingdom, positioning the Octa Black on a global platform.
The standard Defender OCTA entered the Indian market in March 2025 with a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 2.59 crore. The company has not yet disclosed the India launch timeline for the Octa Black edition.
